Spring is a bustling season for our Architecture Committee!
From aiding new homeowners with vital renovations of their historic homes to supervising the installation of beautiful greenhouses for gardening enthusiasts, our Committee engages with numerous homeowners during this vibrant time of year.
During springtime, homeowners often undertake essential exterior maintenance tasks on their historic homes, including potential additions or replacements such as air conditioning units, patios, windows, fencing, walkways, and yes, even greenhouses. As per the Gardens' Architecture Guidelines, all exterior work by homeowners must be pre-approved. The Architecture Committee - homeowners themselves - collaborates closely with residents, both new and old, on the proposed projects from start to finish.
The collaborative process between the members of the Architecture Committee and fellow FHG residents allows for the exchange of advice on design, materials, and techniques to maintain the aesthetic integrity of our community. While many applications focus on routine tasks like painting and brick pointing, some involve comprehensive renovations, such as complete window replacements and extensions of rooflines and porches, similar to those being undertaken at a home on Seasongood Road.
The dedicated and knowledgeable members of the Architecture Committee assist homeowners throughout these significant improvements, often even guiding homeowners with the completion of the necessary applications. While paperwork is not always enjoyable, the collective efforts of this hard-working volunteer committee ensures that our historical aesthetic is preserved for future generations' enjoyment.
